Hypnova is an iPhone hypnotherapy app with 300+ free sessions that can also write and narrate a session for one person's situation from a short chat.
Hypnova is an iPhone app for guided hypnosis. Its library of 300+ sessions for sleep, anxiety, habits, pain, confidence and more is free, with no subscription and unlimited replays. Pro adds personalized sessions: you describe what you want help with in a short chat, and the app writes a 10 to 25 minute session for that situation and narrates it over a soundscape you choose.
Hypnova is an iPhone hypnotherapy app made by Zentient AI, LLC in California, US, on the App Store since June 2025. It has two halves. The first is a library of 300+ pre-made sessions across 12 categories, including sleep, stress and anxiety, habits, chronic pain and confidence. The library is free permanently, not a trial. The second half writes a session for one person: you describe what you want to work on in a short chat, choose a length, a narrator voice and a soundscape, and the app writes and narrates a session built around that situation. Every session follows the structure used in hypnotherapy practice: induction, deepening, suggestion and emergence. Pro costs $12.99 a month or $99.99 a year. Hypnova is a wellness app, not a medical treatment.

What's different about it
- The library is free for good. 300+ sessions with no trial, no paywall and no limit on replays.
- It writes a session for one person. Instead of picking the closest pre-recorded track, you describe your situation (“I can't switch off after night shifts”) and the app writes and narrates a session for it.
- It follows hypnotherapy structure. Every session has an induction, deepening, suggestion and emergence, the structure used in hypnotherapy practice. It is hypnosis, not meditation.
Pricing
- Free: all 300+ library sessions, plus 60 credits at signup to create personalized sessions.
- Pro monthly: $12.99/month, 240 credits a month, up to 120 unused credits roll over.
- Pro yearly: $99.99/year, 2880 credits up front.
Credits are spent per minute of new audio. Replaying a session you already have never costs anything.

Research write-ups
Plain-English summaries of the published studies on hypnosis, including where the evidence is weak. Each links to its sources.
- Hypnosis for anxiety: what the research shows
- Is hypnosis safe? Side effects, risks and who should avoid it
- Hypnosis for insomnia: what the trials actually show
- Does hypnosis work? A condition-by-condition scorecard
- App or therapist? A new IBS trial compared hypnotherapy both ways
- Hypnosis helped with procedure pain, not chronic pain, in a new review
- The placebo question nobody wants to answer
- Hypnosis for smoking: what the quit-rate evidence says
- Hypnosis for IBS: how gut-directed hypnotherapy measures up
How it compares
The founder
Kevin Crabbe founded Zentient AI, LLC in 2024 after time in sleep health, seeing study after study in which hypnotherapy helped with sleep, IBS and anxiety, while almost nobody could actually get it. Hypnova is built to close that gap. The full story is in Why we built Hypnova.
Kevin is available for interviews and expert comment on the hypnosis research: what it shows, where it falls short, and how app-based hypnosis compares with seeing a hypnotherapist.
For reviewers and writers
- A free Pro account for testing. Email hypnova@zentient.ai with your name and the piece.
- A code for your readers that gives them a month of Pro free.
- A session written for your readers on a topic you choose, which you can listen to before you write.
- Answers to fact-check questions, usually within two business days.
Notes for accuracy
- Hypnova is a wellness app. It is not a medical device or a treatment, and its own sessions have not been tested in a clinical trial. Please don't describe it as treating or curing a condition.
- Narration uses synthetic text-to-speech voices, not recorded human narrators.
- It is iPhone only for now. Android is on a waitlist.
- Not to be confused with Hypnova in Zurich (hypnova.ch), an unrelated hypnotherapy practice, or Hypnova the Brooklyn pop duo.
